A recent job really brought this home for me: two commercial units in a mixed-use building, both with fresh fire risk assessments, both doing almost nothing with the actions. The same building has already suffered severe fire damage. In the UK we have a national EPC register that anyone can search – yet fire risk assessments still live in ring-binders and inboxes. This post explores why that’s a dangerous gap and makes the case for a national fire risk assessment register to bring real accountability.
